We teach budgeting in a way that actually sticks

Started in 2014 when we realized too many people were getting vague advice about money management. We built something different — courses that focus on real numbers, actual scenarios, and methods you can apply today.

How this started

Back in 2014, our founder was working at a retail bank. He noticed something strange: people would come in asking for financial advice, but the standard materials were either too technical or too vague to be useful.

So he started creating simple spreadsheets and step-by-step guides for customers on the side. Those materials kept getting passed around, and people kept asking for more. Eventually, it made sense to build a proper platform.

That's how Desuklan came together. We're not financial gurus or investment experts. We're educators who think budgeting should be taught with clarity, patience, and real examples.

The people behind the courses

We're a small team. Everyone here has either worked in finance or taught complex subjects to everyday learners. We focus on making things clearer, not flashier.

Course Development Lead

Spent years simplifying complex financial concepts for everyday learners. Builds course structures that break down intimidating topics into manageable lessons with practical exercises.

2014

Started with spreadsheets

Liam created the first budgeting templates for bank customers. Word spread through recommendations, and requests for more detailed guides kept coming in.

2016

First structured course launched

We formalized the materials into a proper online course. Focused on zero-based budgeting with real income scenarios. Early students reported clearer understanding of where their money was actually going.

2019

Expanded course library

Added modules covering debt repayment strategies, irregular income management, and savings goal planning. Each course built around specific problems students were facing.

2022

Introduced interactive tools

Developed calculators and scenario simulators so students could test different budgeting approaches with their own numbers before committing to a method.

Now

Continuing to refine and update

We're adding new examples, updating calculators with current data, and building more resources based on what students tell us they need. The focus stays the same: practical guidance that works.

What we're working on now

Right now we're updating course materials with more recent examples and adding new modules on managing variable expenses. We're also building out more detailed case studies based on real student situations.

If you want to see what the courses look like or have questions about what we cover, just reach out. We're happy to walk you through the curriculum and explain how the lessons are structured.
